Cowspiracy – A Must See Documentary

This is going to a short and sweet post. I watched the documentary, Cowspiracy this evening, and decided I had to share with you a few insights. Animal agriculture is by far, the leading source of environmental problems and we’re being told it’s down to vehicle polution, plastics, using too much water etc. We’re told to turn our taps off whilst brushing our teeth and to take shorter showers, when in actual fact, this is a minuscule fraction of what the world is consuming through animal agriculture. It takes 1000g of water to produce just 1 gallon of milk. I love my documentaries and this one is the most controversial one I’ve seen. 91% of the Amazon Rainforest is depleted as a result of raising life stock. An acre of rainforest is destroyed every second due to the grazing of animals and the farming of grains like GMO soy to feed the animals. Organisations like Greenpeace and even Amazon Watch, are being silenced by money. If we continue to over fish as we’re going, by 2048 we’ll have seas and oceans with no fish left. 40-50 million sharks are killed every year by accident – they’re accidentally caught in the nets meant to catch other fish. Activists have been murdered when speaking up. In Brazil, 1,100 activists have been killed in the last 20 years who have spoken up against animal agriculture.

Man. I love my meat and fish. This might just change my approach. Could the only sustainable way for this planet to survive be for us all to switch to plant-based food? See what you think. It’s a real eye opener…
