How To Design The Perfect Circuit

We all know that for ultimate mojo we need to ultimately be fit. Which girl, given the choice, would prefer an unfit guy to a fit guy? The great news is that with dedication, everyone one of use can be fit through strategy and desire to achieve it. The strategy is the easy part – establishing enough desire is the hardest part and this is where most people trip up. If you start a fitness program and perceive the workouts to be ‘painful’ then the chances are they won’t last. However, if you consider them as fun, and they make you feel amazing and knowing they’re what you need to be doing to achieve your end goal for x,y, and z reasons, then you’ll stick with it. It’s all about working out your ‘why?’. So, without further ado, here is how to design the perfect circuit taken from Mens Fitness.

A circuit can be made of machines, free weights, bodyweight exercises or a combination of these elements. And, even though the cardiovascular effect of circuit training workouts is enhanced due to the minimal rest involved, you can also utilize cardio intervals to further enhance the caloric expenditure and fat-burning effects.

When designing your circuit, choose compound exercises, such as squats, pushups and lunges, whenver possible. These moves ensure that you’re truly maximizing your workout by hitting the most muscle groups possible. Also, follow this 4-part framework that provides a killer full-body workout while torching major calories. You can repeat the same four moves for the entire workout or keep the same framework while choosing new exercises each successive time:

Upper Body Exercise
Lower Body Exercise
Core Exercise
Cardio Interval

This is much more fun that long distance, endurance cardio isn’t it? And you know that’s not for testosterone don’t you? In case you don’t, long distance cardio actually reduces testosterone as the stress hormone cortisol is realised after about 45 minutes to an hour which not only creates an acidic environment in your body, but it also breaks down muscle tissue – the polar opposite of what you want to happen when increasing testosterone.
